In the spring of 2020, the Wallace Centers of Iowa approached the Hummingbirds. They were launching a great outdoor concept called Pizza on the Prairie and knew they wanted to drive a younger demographic to the experience — something they knew the Hummingbirds could help with!
About Pizza on the Prairie
The Wallace Centers of Iowa hosts this fun event on Friday nights June through September. They serve homemade brick oven pizzas packed with veggies grown on their farm and local meat, house-made sides and desserts, and delicious drinks crafted from their own produce. Beer, wine and soft drinks are available, too. In addition to being on a beautiful farm, there is live music, yard games, and art sculptures for all to enjoy.

The Wallace Centers is located almost an hour outside of the heart of Des Moines, so they hoped the Hummingbirds would attract younger audiences to their rural location. Each Hummingbird received two free pizzas and two free soft drinks to enjoy with friends.

The Hummingbirds' guests purchased additional food and drinks at the event. They were also tagged in the Hummingbirds’ posts on Instagram, so many people saw posts from multiple friends and family members resulting in immense interest and trust in a brand they had never even experienced themselves.
Reservations began to fill up immediately after the Hummingbirds started posting, and soon reservations were full through the summer with a waiting list for the following season. Pizza on the Prairie is now a highly desired event for people from all age groups with reservations that sell out quickly.

The Wallace Centers of Iowa saw so much success at Pizza on the Prairie that they engaged more Hummingbirds for their Farm to Table dinners. Farm to Table Thursdays takes place at their historic house in Des Moines where dishes featuring produce from their farm and meat from Iowa farmers are served. Every Hummingbird raved about their experience and couldn’t wait to return!
